Setting Up And Installing HikVision NVR

Go through the following to learn about how to set up and install HikVision NVR:

What You Need:

To set up your HikVision cameras, you’ll need a few essentials:

  • The HikVision NVR,
  • Precrimped CAT5E or CAT6 cables, or a friendly installer who can provide the cables with RJ45 ends (make sure to have one for each camera, plus one connecting the NVR to the modem).
  • A monitor
  • A screwdriver
  • A ladder

Steps:

  • Mark the Locations: Reference your layout plan and identify the spots where you want to install the cameras.
  • Next, run the CAT6 cables to each location (one for each camera), ensuring they lead back to your NVR position.
  • Remember that the NVR has a slight running fan noise, so a cupboard or walk-in space would be perfect.
  • Connect and install the cameras to one end of the CAT cable, then link the other to the NVR.
  • Don’t forget to seal those connections with electrical tape to guard against water ingress.
  • Simply plug the monitor into the NVR using a VGA or HDMI cable to set it up. Also, connect an Ethernet cable from the NVR to your modem if you want remote viewing.
  • Once everything’s plugged in, turn on the NVR and monitor, and you’ll see a setup screen appear in no time.
  • Make sure to jot down the username and password you create. It can be quite a hassle to reset if you forget.
  • After everything is set up, your cameras should appear on the screen.
  • If you want to set up remote viewing and find yourself stuck, don’t hesitate to contact an IT professional. They can help determine if the issue lies with your modem or something else.
